So, I have a new look to my blog. What do you think? I totally dig it.

This is Cody & Rae's wedding, which I am just now getting around to blogging. Shame on me. It was a fantastic wedding! It was at the University United Methodist Church at the TU Campus, here in Tulsa. There were some really cool places to photograph there. The outside is rock, so it made a great background!

I shot these with a Canon 5D, which I rented. I was really sad when I had to ship it back to BorrowLenses. (Side note: If you need to rent gear, I highly recommend BorrowLenses. They are fantastic and they keep their gear in great condition!) After I sent the 5D back, I knew I had to get one. So, I did. Im really looking forward to this wedding season with my new camera!

I could start out this post with how much I suck as a blogger. I could say that I resolve to blog more, and how I wont neglect my blog anymore. I could also give some lame excuse as to why I haven't blogged in a while. Sure, I could do that. And, while it would all be true, I will skip that and head right on to some great photos.

This is Cody & Rae. Cody is my step-bro, and we pretty much grew up together. When I found out he was getting married, I asked him if I could photograph their engagements. He always found the hottest girls, and Rae is no exception. Im not really sure how he scored her, but he did (just kidding) and now they are tying the knot sometime in October. They are seriously an awesome couple.

This is a wedding from a few months ago. I have a several sessions that I will hopefully be blogging soon.

A few months ago, the incredibly talented and amazing Andrea Murphy Photography asked me to photograph with her at this wedding. What a wedding it was. Apparently there were some shenanigans at the reception after I left involving Pistol Pete. Anyway, for the part I was there for, it was really great. Got some great shots. A great time was had by all. Check out these images.

As you can see, it snowed. But this totally didn't stop the wedding party from wanting to go outside and do some photos. They were such troopers.

I think this could be one of my most favorite shots. If you look closely, you can actually see it flurrying.

Samuel's Senior Photos

I know, I am long overdue with posts. There really is no excuse. Really. Really. None at all.

This is Samuel. He is the brother of my brother-in-law. He is a senior this year, and they contacted me to do some photos. We went to the downtown district and did the shoot there. It was the day before St. Patty's Day, so all the bars and all were getting ready to block off the streets so they could host all the people that would be there. We were fairly limited in what we could do because of that, but we got some killer stuff anyway... Check them out.

Great details from a recent wedding!

I also was going to have a new photo of my little girl, but she was unavailable for the shoot. Her agent cited "gas" as the reason for the cancellation, but did promise a reschedule.

As I said in a previous post, there are some BIG changes around the corner for Brian Darrough Photographer. I don't want to give away any secrets, but it does include a re-designed blog, some other fun things. I plan to roll all of this out is Jan 1, 2009. By the way, it felt really weird to type 2009. What better way to start out a new year than with a fresh new look?

You have all heard the expression "they grow up so fast". I actually never knew what everyone was talking about when they said it. But... now I do. It really seems like yesterday when I got the call from my wife saying we were pregnant.

I never knew that a toothless and slobbery grinned little girl could or would change my life the way this one has. This is my little girl, for whom I thank God every day.

To Joy, my wife, thank you for giving me the most amazing gift I could ever imagine.

To Emma, thank you for being you. Daddy loves you!

Lisa's Trash The Dress Session

I absolutely love Trash The Dress sessions. I would encourage every bride to do it. Because, face it. Your Daughter won't want to wear the dress in 30 years, and what a better way to show your husband how much you love him. Now, I know some people really freak out and think that they have to shred the dress and all to count as a "Trash the Dress" session, but that is not the case at all. Most of the time, all it takes is one trip to the cleaners, and it looks like new again. It really is an amazing time.

Andrea and I took Lisa and her bridesmaid Laurel out to do a Trash the Dress. What a blast. These ladies are so awesome and were up for anything. I should have a few more from this shoot within a day or two. But for now... Enjoy!

Senior Photos

Its been a bit since I have updated. Its a amazing how busy a 2 month old keeps you.

This is Pauli. I have photographed her family for a couple of years now, and she contacted me to do her senior photos. This is only the first of several shoots, so stay tuned for more. This shoot was done downtown amidst some of the cool buildings, the lighting was gorgeous, and the weather was nothing short of beautiful. August here can be a really nasty month with the heat, but we were very blessed with nice temps.

I love the feel of this one. Textures aren't really my thing, but I absolutely loved it on this shot.

How great is this one? I absolutely love the golden delicious light. I think this is one of my very favorites out of the entire shoot.

I think one of my new favorite backgrounds is this red door. I love the punchy color it brings to the shot.

7-14-08 Wedding

This was a fabulous wedding. The Bride and Groom were so in love, and it showed. They met in church, and grew up together. They became best friends, spending every moment together. They went to church camps together, were on the Bible quiz team, and attended the youth group together. Now, they are together as one. Congrats you guys!!

Is this not the cutest baby girl you have ever seen?? No, Im not biased either. We did these while we were in the hospital last week, so these are about a week old. We are going to do a shoot today, so I will have those to post soon.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to second shoot for the fabulous Andrea Murphy. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding, even if it was a bit on the warm side. The Ceremony was at The Landing Church, and the reception was at the Oklahoma Aquarium, which had some great places to photograph at.

A couple of weeks ago, the amazing Andrea and I went to do a photoshoot for some potential wedding clients of hers. We had a blast! It was a little chilly out, but like three days before the session, it snowed and iced. The weather totally cooperated for us and Britni and Tre were so much fun to work with. Hannah's First Birthday

This is baby Hannah on her first birthday. This wasn't a client shoot, but I thought the photos were just way too cute not to post. We went over to her parent's house and had cake then went to a wonderful pizza joint and had some "birthday pizza" as well.

So, I photographed a wedding yesterday, and the bride will probably look very familiar. Jackie and Brad finally tied the knot yesterday, and the wedding was just lovely. They had some really cool personal twists to it and made it totally their own.

A big THANK YOU to all my clients that have so patiently waited for me to post some of their photos on my blog. It has been a hectic past couple of weeks, and I really appreciate your patience.

Here we have the Huertas Family. They were a lot of fun to work with, and the the photos reflect that. We tried to do a couple of photos with all the kids in it, and... well... kids were kids. So, those didnt turn out quite like I had hoped, but none the less, it was a good time. And hey... we got some great shots out of too.

So a few weeks ago, Andrea and I took a couple of models to the fair and did an engagement shoot of them. It was a total blast, and I cant remember the last time I laughed so hard. The weather was gorgeous, and the air smelled of fried goodness, which always makes for a good time. A lot of the shots that I have though, have people sticking up their middle finger. They are in the background thankfully, so I could take them out, but whats the deal with people liking to flip off the camera???

Colorado

Joy and I just got back from our trip to colorado. We had a great time, and it was great to see her Grandparents and some of the rest of her family. Colorado is such a beautiful state. It has so many photo ops there that it would be difficult for any photographer not to get inspired. Her grandparent's place is really unique. It is an old farm house (a farm house for Colorado anyway) that just has so much personality to it.

Here is the view from the front window. It was absolutely gorgeous with a sunrise!

We went to her cousins wedding. Interesting to say the least. Even the Bride and Groom's daughter looked less than excited to be there...

Even though as a photographer I make money taking pictures, I think it is super important to take photos just for the love of photography. And this was an awesome location to do just that!!!
